Scrapbook of photographs and clippings, dating from circa 1870-1951, collected by John E. Knapp. The scrapbook documents the history of The Dalles, Or. and subjects include pioneer settler Joseph Gardner Wilson (1826-1873), an Oregon Supreme Court judge and United States congressman, and his wife, schoolteacher Elizabeth Millar Wilson (1830-1916); their son, Circuit Court judge and author Frederick Wallace Wilson (1872-1954); and journalist Nard Jones (1904-1972), among others. Also includes photographs of the Wilson family's home in The Dalles; the 1894 flood in The Dalles; Celilo Falls; views of streets, homes, businesses, and other buildings in the town; and steamships and other ships that traveled the Columbia River. Newspaper clippings contain biographical information about various members of the Wilson family.
